Canada announces new measures to tackle Start-Up Visa processing backlog

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has introduced new measures affecting the Start-Up Visa (SUV) program, with the stated goal of reducing long processing times and managing its significant inventory of applications.

In summary, the measures (1) pause most new SUV permanent residence intake, (2) introduce a clearer prioritisation order for files already in the system, and (3) suspend new applications for the optional SUV work permit.
